Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I get my music into moodSeer?

There are many ways. Let’s go in order from the easiest (done for you) to the most technical (DIY):

    1) Use our Concierge Riptopia service when ordering. Riptopia will ship you a box with spindles for your CDs. You simply take all your hundreds … or thousands … out of their jewel cases and stack them on the spindles. Then ship the box back to Riptopia. Within a few days, your CDs will be returned to you, and you will receive your moodSeer system pre-loaded with all your music. There is a charge for this service, so you must consider how you value your time!

    2) Rip each CD one by one using the moodCenter’s CD reader. Pop in your CD, choose ‘Record a CD’ from the moodSeer interface, verify the information, and press GO. After about 5 minutes, your CD will be ejected and. Repeat these steps for all your CDs.

    3) If you already have digital music, you can copy your music onto the moodCenter hard drive using drag and drop from Windows Explorer (or Finder on the Macintosh). Simply navigate to the moodCenter and connect to the Music folder (typically \\172.16.17.10\Music) as explained in your moodSeer manual.

  2. Is moodSeer secure? Can the neighbors snoop on my music?

The moodSeer ships configured as a secure private network. This ensures complete security of your music.

  3. How much music can I put on moodSeer?

The moodCenter can hold between 250GB to 1 Terabyte of Music internally without adding a fan (we will NEVER add a fan). Each Terabyte of storage can hold about 5,000 CDs in lossless format.

Yes! The moodCenter can be easily configured to use your shared Windows drives or any network-accessible storage (NAS) unit.

  5. Do I need the moodBeamer to control my music?

The moodSeer application is browser based so you can use the moodBeamer touch screen, or any other touch screen device that supports browser applications. You can even use your iPhone or iPod Touch to control moodSeer. We have also been tested and certified to work with Vantage, the Philips Pronto, AMX, RTI and others. You can evne use your own laptop by connecting to the moodSeer network.

  9. I already have digital music on my computer; can I use that music?

Yes, any music available on the network can be made available to moodSeer. Either copy the music onto the moodSeer system for permanent storage or add previously recorded music as an external music source and have additional music available for listening.

  10. How many zones/rooms does moodSeer support?

The maximum number of zones depends on whether the zones are wired or wireless. If they are all wired then 36 zones is the maximum.

  11. What about surround sound?
